Lecture topics

I deliver yearly lectures on a range of subjects relating to health and clinical psychology. These talks are available to students enrolled in the associated BSc in Psychology and MSc in Health Psychology.

I take care to ensure my talks on these subjects contain the latest evidence, theories and research. Please do reach out if you’re conducting work in this area or are interested in developing future research projects or talks around these topics.

INTRO TO HEALTH PSYCHology AND BEHAVIOUR CHANGE

This talk details how psychology can be used to help understand why people appear to make certain health choices and how to encourage healthier behaviours.

ILLNESS REPRESENTATIONS AND THEIR IMPACT ON HEALTH CONDITIONS

In this talk, students can learn more about how people’s beliefs about their health conditions (or beliefs about the health conditions of others) can affect their own health, healthcare engagement and recovery.

Beliefs about medications AND impact on adherence

In this lecture, students will learn more about what people think about their medications and using a behavioural science approach, understand how this influences whether they take them as prescribed.

physical and mental health Consequences of health stigma

By the end of this talk, students will develop an understanding of how health stigma affects physical and mental health, and why it's important to challenge these beliefs throughout different areas of society.

“There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education.

The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.”
